Claire Morton is a contemporary textile/fibre artist based in the UK, who uses plant, animal and synthetic fibers to construct her textile paintings and sculptures. Fabric is her paint and thread is her paintbrush. Narrative is an essential component of her work and she tells the stories with texture, using techniques such as dyeing, printing knotting, braiding, weaving and crochet to construct and embellish her textiles. From childhood playing in a cotton mill and learning about my grandfather's history of owing a silk mill I have always been fascinated by the process of how fabric is made. Now I hope I am following in their footsteps adding my own unique character and ideas to create special one off pieces of artwork for exhibitions and for sale.
