SJI are a British sign language (BSL) interpreting service supporting people who are deaf and use sign language, as well as people who are hearing (and use spoken language) to communicate with the deaf community. I will often adapt to the different levels and styles of signing that my clients use interpret from BSL to spoken or written English, and vice versa.
My name is Shabnum Jackson and I am the proud owner of SJInterpreting.
I am qualified at BSL Level 6, hold full insurance and have experience in a variety of settings, including educational and public.
Since starting my BSL Interpreting course, I take even greater pride in working within the Deaf community and am always looking for CPD opportunities, to enhance and move SJI forward to be able to provide the best possible service to both the Deaf and hearing community.
I provide communication support for people who are D/deaf and whose first or preferred language is BSL, and those who also use sign supported English. My services include support in days out, appointments, shopping trips, or just going out for a coffee and having a chat. We also provide an Introductory course to BSL suitable for all ages and abilities.
