A little bit about my history

The Baking Chef, does it sound like an oxymoron! Welcome to the Baking Chef, A Chef who bakes!

I am Nilutpal Pegu a Guwahati based pastry chef and a food enthusiast. I bake pastries, international sweets, breads and desserts and also custom-made cakes. 


My Baking story began in my own kitchen. Wherever I went people counted on me to cook. Even for parties and marriages, my friends and relatives have shouldered the responsibility of the menu and food on me. I have been honored to be seen as the authority on food on many occasions for people I know even decisions like which caterer will serve what. This gave me confidence to try my own venture and spread the joys of baking with everyone.

My love for baking is a never-ending story

My love for baking is a never-ending story of my struggle with the dough. I just fell in love simply when I saw the dough rising and getting baked in the oven. The versatility of the dough where you could mold/knead it into different shapes and how you could re-mold it again if it hadn’t pleased you. This fairy tale of my love for baking is some other day.


After a Bachelors in Tourism, like everyone around me I started preparing for Government jobs. While preparing for jobs I kept going back to baking and finally decided to do what I love to do!

This is when, I started thinking seriously about my venture The Baking Chef. I intend to blog about my recipes to keep track of it. Also, as I love challenging myself, every now and then so I will also be trying new recipes and doing some food photography.


BAKE , Bake, Bake

or parties and outing I was the food man. My friends counted me as the food man. But it baking I fell in love with , Cause it was magic see the rising dough(when proofed) then knocking it back like a fighter ,getting mesmerized to see it rise again in the oven and the smell of bake is heavenly. My adventures with baking are a whole lot of whacky fairy tales which Ill like to save it for later

After graduating from a Tourism background, like everyone around me , I set out to find a Sarkari Job which to some extent I did turn my tables but my love gave me a call – BAKE , Bake, Bake,

That is when I started The Baking Chef. I will be to blogging tentatively, intending for it to be a way of keeping track of all my recipes. But lately I am inspired by some big fish in this Baking World, which motivated me to try new recipes, challenge my home baking skills and to learn a little about food photography.
