Businesses in Florida eligible for SBA hurricane relief funding

Florida businesses and private nonprofit organizations impacted by Hurricane Milton have until January 22 to apply for federal disaster loans. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is urging those affected to take advantage of this opportunity for low-interest loans aimed at offsetting economic losses from the storm, which struck the state on October 9 and 10, 2024.

The disaster declaration covers numerous counties in the state, including Highlands, Brevard, Charlotte, DeSoto, Flagler, Glades, Hardee, Hillsborough, Lake, Manatee, Marion, Orange, Polk, Putnam, Sarasota, Seminole, and Volusia.

Businesses and organizations in these areas are eligible to apply for assistance if they suffered economic setbacks as a direct result of the hurricane. The SBA’s disaster loans are designed to provide vital support, helping organizations recover and stabilize after the disruption caused by the storm.

The deadline for applications is fast approaching, leaving less than a month for those eligible to submit their requests. The SBA continues to remind Florida’s small businesses and nonprofits to act before the January 22 cutoff.
